Frequently Asked Questions

Why the Bafang M400?
The M400 provides a smooth assist for cyclists who are looking for a solid ebike feel without being unsafe. It assists without distracting the rider.

What class of e-bike is the Roselandia?
The Roselandia is a Class 1 e-bike. This means that is has a torque sensing assist and can achieve 20mph with assist. It does not have a throttle. We wanted the Roselandia to truly be a bicycle that has an assist - not a throttle powered two wheeler that happens to resemble a bicycle. The experience of a Roselandia is very much riding a bike first.

Why no integrated lights?
We feel that riders should have a nice mount for their own personal choice in lighting. It also allows 100% of the battery to be for the assist, as opposed to powering accessories. The Roselandia does feature included mounts for a headlight and taillight. The classic BMX style bars also mean you have plenty of room for other items like GPS, cameras, phones, etc!

Why not a folding frame?
There are many folders on the market, but hinges can make a frame feel flimsy and add a lot of weight and complexity. Weighing the usefulness of a folder versus a compact frame - ultimately we chose to design a non folding compact bike that was light, durable, and sporty.

Why 20” wheels?
20” 406 wheels are a common size for BMX bikes and tubes/tires are readily available. It also keeps the size and height down. The geometry of the Roselandia means a bike with small wheels that feels like a bigger bike.

What is the frame made of?
Our frames are 6061 aluminum for solid strength and light weight.

Where are your frames made?
Our frames are made in Taiwan, which is home to the greatest bicycle manufacturers in the world.

What kind of range does the drive system have?
Range on an e-bike always varies with load and terrain. The system has a feature that tells you an approximate range left on the battery. With a full charge in level 1, the range is roughly 60 miles. In level 5 the range is roughly 30 miles

Can you use a regular bike seat?
At this time a regular bike seat cannot be installed, however an adapter mount is a possible future accessory. After riding our ergonomic lightweight seat though, we wonder why anyone would want a regular bicycle saddle.

Is the Roselandia customizable?
The Roselandia uses several off the shelf parts that means it is easily customizable - from handlebars and stems, baskets, bags, lighting, etc.

What is the rider weight limit?
The Roselandia is listed at 275 maximum rider weight.

Does the Roselandia come in different frame sizes?
The frame is a one size fits nearly everyone - from riders of around 4’11” to 6’3” easily.

What is the warranty?
The frame is warranted for 2 years. Standard components are warranted for 1 year. Bafang warrants the motor unit for 30 months and they have a service center in Los Angeles.

What if the battery runs out?
The Bafang M400 is so smooth that it rides easily even when no assist is being used or the battery runs out or is not installed. The standard drivetrain provides a good gear range and the overall light weight means you can easily ride with or without power.

Why do you use a chain and not a belt drive?
Chains are tried and true for nearly a hundred years. If your chain breaks or needs maintenance - it can be replaced by any bike shop easily. Future Roselandia’s might use a belt drive, but nothing beats a good solid chain setup for simplicity, efficiency, and ease of maintenance.

Why does it not have hydraulic brakes?
On e-bikes that tip the scales of 60 to 70 plus pounds, hydraulic brakes make sense because at that point you need it to stop the total weight of the bike. The Roselandia comes in at 47 lbs with battery, and the dual piston TRP calipers stop the bike smoothly and effortlessly - and are far easier to maintain and work on than hydraulics.
